When: 1987

Where: Berkeley (and SF or Santa Clara)

And: We’d been fans of this Australian from afar for a couple years — my friends and I were so excited to see the band a few times when they were finally toured the US twice in 1987. We managed to meet them all, spending most of our time with Pierre Gigliotti and brothers James and Vince Leigh (lead singer Brian Canham was somewhat elusive).

  1. My Band Bolero opened for these gents back in either 1987 or 88 at Santa Clara’s One Step Beyond, which was our home base. We also opened for A Flock of Seagulls and Men Without Hats, as well as our own headlining gigs and record launch. One Step Beyond hosted many major names: The Ramones, Cheap Trick, Gene Loves Jezebel, etc. More on Bolero here: http://www.youtube.com/reneperaza — scroll down to the 80s & 90s.
